NEWS: HP Announces 'Smart' Cooling Solution for Data Centers.  Or more accurately, "Dynamic Smart Cooling."   What does it mean?  I'm not sure -- The article mentions analysis up front, and "directed cooling resources within the computer center ... where and when needed."   Of course, it'll cost a ton of cash, but HP believe that it will pay for itself in energy costs savings.  GreenBiz Apr 4 2003 1:35AM ET [Moreover - moreover...]

The IPS question. Does intrusion prevention really work? Enterprises and vendors alike are seeking the answer -- and figuring out what it means for their businesses' futures.   This isn't an HP specific story, but it's of particular interest to me, since I've been working for two years on using OVO/U as an IPS solution.   I feel that a lot of the "issues" and "problems" of IDS systems, especially reactive IDS systems, as outlined in this article have been solved by my particular solution.   Utilizing the agentry of OVO, we're able to control more of the enterprise security than just the Firewall.  We can actually be reactive on a host by host basis.  Articles like this are very interesting to me -- feel free to point me at any that you might come across. [InfoWorld: Top News]
